Electronics Test Technician  

Syneren is currently looking for an Electronics Test Technician to assist in the operations and maintenance and engineering changes to fielded operational National Weather Service Hydrometeorological systems. Intermediate level Test Technician needed to support our NWS customer with Developmental Test and Evaluation through Operational Test and Evaluation of weather sensing equipment as part of a major acquisition. Successful candidates must possess and practice keen attention to detail, be methodical, organized, work independently and in a team environment and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Travel is required for this position less than 50% of the time. Work locations are primarily Silver Spring, MD & the Sterling Field Support Center in VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of complicated Test Procedures for electronic systems
  • Assembly of electro mechanical components and subsystems
  • Develop diagrams in Visio
  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics
  • Choose and qualify components and sub components, connectors, wire, and associated test equipment and tooling
  • Assist in the creation and following of test plans
  • Read, interpret and understand technical specifications, functional requirements documents, level 3 drawings, requirements, specification control drawings, source control drawings, mechanical assembly drawings, and parts lists
  • Design and build AC, DC, and signal cable harnesses with connectors
  • Hands on prototyping of electromechanical assemblies
  • Soldering, using crimp tools and other tools used to assemble electronic equipment
  • Write summaries of Engineering Change Notices and instructions for technicians to follow for system modifications to approved equipment baselines
  Required Qualifications:
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in electronic systems repair, maintenance or developmental/operational test development Minimum of 5 years of experience in a research and development, or test laboratory, or manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable discipline (STEM preferred)
  • Understand electrical and electronic schematics
  • Ability to choose and qualify components and sub components, connectors, wire, and associated test equipment and tooling
  • Experience creating and following test plans
  • Thorough understanding of technical specifications, functional requirements documents, level 3 drawings and requirements, specification control drawings, source control drawings, mechanical assembly drawings, and parts lists
  • Experience designing AC, DC, and signal cable harnesses
  • Experienced in, and understanding of, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of electronic equipment
  • Capable of electro/mechanical assembly
  • Experience in test and evaluation of electro/mechanical systems
  • Experience with VISIO
  • US citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance

  • Experienced in, and understanding of, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of electronic equipment
  • Ability to develop procedures that produce repeatable results
  • AutoCAD Experience
  • Automated Data collection equipment experience
  • Electronic sensor experience
  • Create and edit electrical and electronic diagrams
  • Proficient with DOORS, requirements traceability, and testing documentation
